Food Safety
Domex Superfresh Growers™ Food Safety Pledge
Your good health and the good health of your family are very valuable to you…and to us. Actually, we value this above all else and take a proactive approach to protecting the health of you and your family.
We have very stringent growing and packaging guidelines in place that assure we produce only the safest fruit possible. In the orchard these are called Good Agricultural Practices or GAP’s and in the packaging facilities we call these Good Manufacturing Practices or GMP’s. Along the entire chain of production we pay special attention to potential trouble spots, this process is called Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points or HACCP. Below you will find details about food safety programs we participate in. Our commitment to living these programs is just one part of what makes us Superfresh.
PRIMUS and SQF 2000 3rd party audited programs are in place at all of Domex Superfresh Growers’ warehouses, which assures that our products have been produced, handled and shipped to the highest possible Food Safety standards.
EurepGAP 3rd party auditing is in place at specific orchard sites to help ensure safe and sustainable agriculture delivering to Europe

Cleaning Fruit
There are certain bits of wisdom we hear throughout our lives; “don’t run with scissors” and “always wash your hands before you eat” are two examples. We have some more advice for you, “wash your fruit.”
We are blessed to have our fruit hanging in trees. This makes it easier to keep our food free of nasty pathogens that make people sick. But we still take measures to make sure our fruit is perfectly clean and ready to eat. All of our fruit goes through a “bath” that includes a thorough scrubbing with food grade soap, a good rinse and drying before being packaged. Once the fruit has been packed it goes to a refrigerated holding area until it’s inspected by trained food safety assurance personnel and loaded onto a truck and taken to your market.
Once that fruit leaves our hands, we can’t watch it for you anymore. So, for your safety, we recommend that you rinse apples, pears and cherries in clean running water before you eat them. Our pledge to you is that we will always deliver fruit that is safe and clean to protect the health of you and your family.
