Miguel Gomez knows fruit quality from the ground up. He started in the fruit business right out of school stacking product on pallets and driving a forklift. His attention to detail and work ethic moved him quickly into the production line. For the past 18 years he has been involved with quality control in some way, shape or form every day. He has run shipping docks, packing lines and QA teams; all while keeping an eye on the quality of the fruit.
Miguel has been instrumental in keeping the Superfresh Growers sales team in tune with what is coming off the tree, across the lines and on to the trucks. He travels the world to understand customers expectations when fruit arrives at their back door. Miguel takes pride in making sure our customers get the right fruit for each order. He tells us “I like the challenging nature of the job and that I get to work, learn and share knowledge and experience with people from the orchard to the retailer". It’s that curiosity and the ability to share what he knows that makes him an integral part of our success.
He’s all business when he’s checking fruit quality but when he’s not here he keeps busy with his family. He follows the sporting career of his teenage son, Miguel Jr., who gets the job done on the basketball court and football field. He also likes to fish, golf and spend quality time with his one year old daughter, Claire, and his wife Rosemary who is expecting their third child, a baby boy.
